As a Service Provider and Wastewater Operator, I looked for a camera to inspect the inside of the septic tank without crawling down inside the septic tank. I experimented with a Go-Pro camera, a Sony Sure Shot with an auxiliary lite. I tried a extendable selfie stick with cell phone holder and was disappointed with the video being unsteady & blurry. I had heard that you could use a mirror to inspect the tank and check it for damage. I tried it and with this approach all you would do is interpret what you saw and have no record. The Septic Tank Viewer is designed to set on the sludge layer and look at the top, walls and baffles in the septic tank. The Septic Tank Viewer can be lowered down into the tank after pumping to inspect the complete tank for any other problems. When you get done, you can look at the video and can determine the condition of the tank. the cell phone has the unique ability to expand or zoom in on the area you think could be a problem and give you a much better ability to evaluate the tank. You can send the video to your customer along with your report as verification of your findings. I found that the cell phone was my best application.

Interior of the Septic Tank

The inside of this tank has Hydrogen Sulfide gas decay on the roof of the tank and the sides, this tank had the outlet end repaired by a contractor because it was leaking. The end of the tank had rotted out around the outlet pipe. The concrete is falling from the roof onto the scum layer. The baffle and the wall are also showing signs of decay.
